Has anyone seen/heard/know of gun sales increasing? Curious to see if the sale of guns has gone up or down following this tragedy?

I don't know, but I do know Rock River Arms (manufacturer of very nice AR-15 type rifles and carbines) has been backordered for months, ever since H.R.1022 was introduced.

I'll be buying another .22 so we can shoot more and still pay the electric bill. My wife, who has always liked to shoot, has developed a much stronger interest after seeing how easy it was to slaughter so many innocent people. Probably another concealable pistol will also be needed.

The only one of my sons without a handgun will probably find a way to fit one into the tight budget sooner rather than later now. Another just ordered more evil 18 round mags for this 9mm.

Hmmmm.... maybe I need just a couple more concealable firearms for myself.

Whether they have yet or not, I believe they will. Three acquaintances in the last two days have asked me to take them to the range then help them select a first pistol for eventual concealed carry. On eo fhem is a devout Buddhist!

Not a gun sale, but VT was the deciding factor on my dad applying for his CCW. I asked the sheriff's dept if they had seen an increase in applications and they said no.

Our local paper had an article on the front page discussing how gun sales are up in Virginia since the murders at VT....

Had a discussion with a clerk at a Gander Mountain gun counter last weekend,.He said that gun sales usually drop off for several months after the end of the year, but this year they had stayed steady.

Our firearms sales, and standard capacity magazine sales rose
briefly after the Virginia Tech trajedy. Standard Glock magazines prices
went up from $21.95 to $24.95; while the cost of the actual pistols
stayed the same. All assault weapons rose by 'bout $50 each~! :uhoh: ;)

I just bought a Keltec P-3AT yesterday as a direct response to VT shootings. I want something with me 100% of the time, not just 90%. Plus a few hundred rounds of .380, pocket holster and extra mag.

Going to do the Fluff & Buff on it tonight and try to get it to the range in the next week for a reliability work out.

Run & Shoot, I have a plan to acquire a small always-there carry myself. Haven't located one yet, but am looking. The wife (happens to a new member here, as a result of the VT incident--she goes by Pixel) is also looking.

All of the gun stores I've visited in the past few months have seen an increase in sales...especially since word of H.R. 1022 came out. The past couple of years in general have been pretty good for firearm sales - big, nationally publicized tragedies like VT just increase the demand.

The shop down the road from where I live sold out of ARs and AKs within a couple days of the incident hitting the news. He's working on restocking, and he figures those will go quickly, as well.

I too noticed it and spoke to 4 differnt gun stores who confirmed the spike. The guy at J&G said it reminds him of when Clinton got into office, there was also a spike. He said that what it really is, is that there are first timers who are afraid of possible new laws so they are buying now, and there are regular gun owners who buy once a year but because of the fear of this new congress and the '08 elections, are putting off other necessities and stocking up more now just in case there isn't a later. He feels that by '08, one way or the other, there will be a sharp drop in sales. This spike is also driving prices up in some cases, depending on locale and weapon. This also means that guns that will not be affected, e.g: single shots, .22 rifles, bolt-actions (especially used) single action or single stack will probably be better priced than your double-stacked hi-cap plastic, or anything that even smells "tactical". It's the old "supply meets demand" scenerio fueled by worried speculation.

Yesterday at lunch I picked up a Bushmaster Varminter 24" and a buddy got a Bushmaster M4 A3 from Gander Mt. We had both been talking about getting these guns for a couple of months. After the VT incident we both figured that the prices would climb as a result of increased demand so we bought now. Didn't make it back to the office and had a blast at the range.
