I don't for the life of me know what it could possibly be. It appears nearly identical to a 92F just more compact.

I've seen it around the various middle tennessee gun shows for a year or so now, and every time its labeled as a tomcat. Its roughly the same size as a sig 229.

Any ideas what the devil it could be? and more importantly.. does anyone have one? :D

Cougar & the mini-Cougar are the only 45 acp currenty offered by Beretta...unless you find someone's "frankengun" for sale :scrutiny:

I should be the Cougar 8045. Simple thing to look for - the Cougar does not have a tip-up barrel, the Tomcat does. A Cougar also is a mid-sized gun like the Sig 229. Take down is also similar to that of the 92.
The Cougar shoots just fine. Some will say that it does not give 1" groups at 50 yards, but it is more than enough as a service pistol. The grip is large for an 8 round gun, but comfortable.

Tomcat Wide Body INOX

Sounds like you have been seeing the newer Beretta Tomcat Wide Body Stainless Steel .32 cal model. Beretta came out with this one about a year ago to beef up the problems the frames were having. The original Tomcats were designed for nightstand/glovebox duty and NOT to be fired alot. Several that were fired more than 300 rds started to break/ crack. I had one which I only put 250rds through to break in and I had no problems. It was extremely accurate.

Cougars shoot extremely well. The rotating barrel design does a very good job of managing recoil, and the grip design makes the gun point great.
