The guy was a Mexican guy, not even a US citizen, and bought the gun in a Milwaukie pawn shop. Watch the video it is freaky, I wonder what gun store/pawn shop owners think, seeing they may be the one who sells a gun to a cold blooded killer. This poor guy will be haunted for days to come, regardless of what people will say and the fact he was not at fault, he did everything by the book.

What will this to do the rights of gun owners in Oregon and in USA? I know there was a bill being passed in Washington that may ban or restrict legal aliens from having gun and this will make it all the harder for them, now that there neighboring state had this incident. Its scary to hear about this, I live in this area and know that it could have been me at the other side of that gun. IT appears most of these psycho shooters are usually not so trained, of course there is exceptions, like the DC sniper. Really, we need more people armed with guns. The Portland police are just not use to crime on this scale and will never be around in time.

I feel sorry for the families, for gun owners and gun dealers that they have to go through the hell of some deranged psycho.

4Freedom,

Why do you use the word massacre in your thread title? Only two were murdered not 100.

On Jan. 7, Ayala returned to the store, interested in purchasing the gun, but he didn't have the proper identification. Because he's not a citizen, Ayala, of Mexico, needed to have an alien resident card, and at least three months of utility bills, Kellim said.

Ayala returned two days later, on Friday, Jan. 9, with the proper paperwork. He left it while the store ran a background check, and he returned by late in the afternoon to pick it up when the sale was approved.

"He was extremely calm, very polite," Kellim said

From the article. The law was obeyed. Why would the gunstore owner feel remorse? People sometimes do commit crime with all kinds of tools. Seriously, should a car dealer feel bed because he sells the getaway car that is used in a bank heist? :scrutiny:

Yep, reading the article, the pawnshop followed all the state/federal requirements AND contacted the police to tell them the gun came from their shop. Nothing should come of it.

Now, why do terms like "massacre" and "crime on this scale" get used when only 2 people are killed?

The pawn shop owner has no more reason to feel burdened than do the families of the victims in the case. He followed THE LAW which is all you can ask of anyone. Not only did it take what appears to be 3 or 4 visits by the purchaser, to ultimately collect the appropriate paperwork to complete the sale, he helped expedite the investigation by calling detectives to let them know the perpetrator made a gun purchase only a few weeks prior in his store.

Also, what's your beef with "Mexicans" being able to defend themselves and their homes while here in the US? Do you think that just because we are US Citizens that we're the only ones entitled to this natural right?

There's a whole lot in your statement that concerns me. First off, I live near Philadelphia, PA, and we have a whole bunch of "scary" stuff. If you are scared, arm yourself.

Whether the perpetrators are "psycho" or not is pointless. Criminals come from all kinds of backgrounds. I'm willing to bet this guy suffered from mental illness. I guess you would probably call this "psycho", but depression and other serious mental illnesses should not be referenced that way.

having worked in a FFL I can tell you that just becuase something is legal does not mean you feel right about doing it. Several times I refused to sell some one a gun, becuase my gut told me not too.

Newsflash: you don't have to be a citizen to buy a gun here, just a legal, resident alien. By and large this is a good thing.
