The safety rules in the first link of post 2 were good, common sense info I'd never been exposed to before (save for "don't put thumb by cylinder gap"), so a worthwhile thread for me.

Guns are an expensive enough hobby without hospital bills!

That's Knob Creek,

The incident I think happened at a Orlando FL range.

Sorry I was not real clear about the location, I ment, in reference to the u-tube videos and the Glock vids.

:)

For the comment (in one of the other threads linked above) about the G18 being not-so-controllable to where it'd not be worth owning: I've seen someone fire a 10mm Glock so fast, it sounded like a full-auto G18, and he controlled it pretty well... much better than the guy in the video. This guy with the G18 was obviously firing it for the first time; all it takes is practice, and it can be controlled eventually. Just like any gun in general. I've seen people have recoil issues with semi-auto 9mm pistols, where others control 10mm and .357 Mag very well. It depends on the person, if they're new or very experienced. Practice, practice... PRACTICE! :)

And this guy was probably using the ranges Glock 18 to fire, not his own. There're Class III dealers that legally have G18's at their range to rent and fire.

i train & teach 2 handed that you push the pistol with the heal of your shooting hand and pull towards you with your weak hand. this 'locks' the gun in a strong grip. if the VFG broke, his hand would have moved toward his chest and the gun forward. resulting in no problem (well, perhaps the ceiling....)

It would be interesting to know some more about that injury, it almost looks phony and the hand injury would have been a lot worse, I believe. Not much blood. I have bleed more from a nail gun through my web...

So does any one else think that it might be bs:what:, if I was the camera guy I'd of followed and shown the injury more clearly:D

I had an injury to the knuckle of my off hand (thumb) trying to strengthen the wrist of the primary hand and the knuckle getting in the way of the slide coming back, pretty good gash and immediate blood flow. It was not one of my best moves LOL:eek:

Was practicing with a revolver and pulling the hammer back on a SA so my primary grip did not move. Noticed it also helped the wrist some with the heavier harder shooters 44 Mag Hot loads:eek: So I tried that hold while shooting with my left hand and some hot 10mms LOL the thumb got in the way:barf::cuss:

Will not make that mistake again:D

Having watched a few guys shoot themselves in the hands doing stupid stuff I can tell you it really doesnt bleed alot.
