Guys with CCW licenses think they're cool

Anyone here ever know or meet a guy who was a total loser (45 years old, lives at home with mommy, delivers pizza for a living) but think's he's a tough guy because he carries a concealed weapons license and likes to flash it around?

At my new job we have to check people in and they must show a photo ID. You wouldn't believe how many loser guys come in flashing their CCWs around and point it out that they carry weapons. They hand it to me and say "you know what that is don't ya". Wow I'm impressed.

Yep, but it's okay. If there's a fight they're probably gonna be the first headed for the door. At least they won't be in the way.

Oddly enough I make it a point to not show my CHL as an ID.

But the guy is right, these days "loser guys" are as likely to be living at home as they are to manage a massive mortgage on a house they designed themselves.

You might classify someone flashing their CHL around as a "loser." That's debatable. I certainly wouldn't do it for a number of reasons; mainly that I don't want people to know I have a concealed weapon...

But in this economy there are a lot of people who have to take whatever jobs they can find and may end up living with their parents again for a time...at least they and their family have a place to stay until they find a better job.

I certainly wouldn't call them losers.

I consider these guys to be morons. They are certainly lacking in good judgement and are obviously suffering from the "Hey, everybody...Look at Me! Look at Me!" complex. Although, it is us who actually suffer....

I agree that it is not the sharpest behavior to engage in. The ones that earn my respect are the fellows I've done business with for years and never knew they carried.

We've had a number of threads on the subject of what social cretins some of our fellow gun-toters are.

THR is dedicated to discussing the reponsible use and ownership of firearms -- not to sniping at those ever so slightly less socially sophisticated than ourselves.

With hundreds of thousands of folks in almost every state licensed (where required) to carry a weapon, you're bound to run into a few. And some of them -- chances are -- are going to be just not as cool as you. That's life. Heck, they're probably fatter and uglier, too. We don't point and laugh about that, either.
