Can anyone tell me the parts needed to change the LEM trigger to the variant 1 trigger with the decocker and safety? I have a fullsize USP .40 cal. Thanks in advance. Any help with the procedure would be appreciated also.

Here is a link on how to install the LEM trigger. It will give you an idea of what may be involved to reverse the process.

Here is another link on how to change a V7 (DAO) to V1.

While it's not very difficult, it is VERY specific. Don't get out of order, follow the check list, and don't get creative. Remember the orientation of the parts you take out. It's really best to have an assembled USP handy for reference when taking the guts out.

I love the guns, but they come apart and go back together like a Chinese Rubix Cube.

Thanks for the info everyone. I might just contact a gunsmith and have him walk me through it the first time. First I have to find all the parts, which may be a challenge unto itself.

I just spoke with a customer service rep at H&K and they quoted 250-300 dollars!!! Is that ridiculous or is that just me?

Highland, I believe HK only ships to certified armorers. CalsSportingArmory.com has parts pretty regularly, though.

Ps--I tried to post a .pdf on USP disassembly for ya. It won't let me. If you Google up "HK USP detail strip", you should find it, or PM me your E mail addy and I'll send the file to ya directly.

H&K

I had an H&K with the LEM trigger. I absolutely hated it!!! Just an oversized double action only revolver when you came down to it. Went through the process your going through - the conversion back to a "real" trigger was absolutely ridiculous. H&K's modular concept is a joke. I have no idea what problem H&K solved with this set up. Owning that piece of crap made me really question the veracity of magazine articles. All I read, spoke highly of the LEM trigger. Total BS!! I sold it off after telling the buyer the reason for my selling it. Just my opinion, but the trigger is the "all" in handguns - after reliability. By the way I eventually owned 3 H&K's and for the life of me I can't understand the appeal or why anyone likes them. I've owned many pistols that were as accurate, as reliable, and had better ergos. I'm not in daily combat so maybe I have a distorted view.
