From reading around the internet, this is quite old. No prefix, and low 4 digit #. Any more info would be appreciated. Thanks

You would find more if you looked under Sportsman. It is not a motorcycle.

The model 999 came out in 1932 so your 4 digit gun was made that year or no later than April 17, 1933. The adjustable front sight came out on the 18th, according to Blue Book.

H&R Sportster or Sportsman?

My box says Sportsman.

Model 999

I really like them!

Sorry, don't have any more info without specific questions.
