so I know very well that power from batch to batch is different. But I cracked open a new 8lb jug of h1000 and get some interesting results(see data below) notice the Plateau- I’ve never had one in h1000 before in other rifles.

Ogive to base 2.885

Winchester primers

H1000

208 edlm

72.5 2820

Sd 3ftps

73 2874

Sd 12

73.5 2875

Sd 8

74 2879

Sd 1

74.5 2919

Sd 13

75 2945

Sd 13

Something I’ve also notice in playing around with primer is my win primers get 50fps less then my fed215. I will post back with that info later and on a previous post I will up date some info on the brass testing I’m am doing so we have some solid info on brass differences. Btw the norma brass is way more concentric then the Winchester brass but my win brass takes way less powder to get the same velocity due to its weight. To get 2950 with the 208’s in the norma take about 78grains. my follow through with my rifle was really sucking this Sunday and the 28-35mph gusting wind did it help me either all well.

That is why H1000 is great.
I found similar results in heavy 7x57 and 280AI loads.

Every powder has plateaus like that. They stem from the way the powder charge interacts with the barrel harmonics.

Which cartridge are we talking about?
300 win mag

Interestingly enough one of my best and sorest groups happened during that Plateau at 73.5 grains and 75 where my best two groups being almost equal then 74 was terrible with only about a 2.5in group at 250. Best group was .75 in at the 73.5 and 75 would of been great also if not for the wind and shooter fatigue, the last shot went right to the right about 4in away from the other group which is just the characteristics of me not following through and pulling. I’m really learning about the negative of a super long barrel during this build, it not like a 20in 308 where follow through does not hurt so much, even at 100yrds if my follow through is lazy I will shoot 2.5-4ins to the right all well.
