Had to stop loading. Ran out of MTM boxes

I know one thing for sure. A 5 gallon bucket 1/2 full of 45 ACP cant be picked up without pulling the handle off.:banghead: They are good to store brass and finished ammo in if you don't want to move them or stack them.:) I use 5 gallon buckets, 40 MM ammo cans, 50 cal and 30 cal ammo cans, with freezer type Zip-Loc baggies marked with the info. The sandwich bags could split and the contents spill and a round possibly be set off.

Berry's are a good deal price-wise. The 100-rd ones have that plastic connector strap rather than a hinge (same as on MTM 50s).

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but the ones I bought (100-rd .45-10mm) don't stay closed as well as MTM. Never had one pop open, just found myself thinking one might. The 9mm ones are more secure. YMMV.

I don't use the 100 rd boxes, so i can't speak about them. I have never had a 50 round Berry's open inadvertently though and I have hundreds of them.

Since I recently started reloading I don't have large quantities of ammo on hand at any one time. I load a hundred rounds, go shoot 'em, load a hundred more, go shoot 'em...

But it's summer, and I'm fairly busy with other things. This winter, when I'm stuck indoors, I expect to develop a storage problem. I've stored ammo in a Playmate picnic cooler which seemed to work pretty well.

Otto,

Yes I got burned with the new hinge on some of the 357 max boxes I bought. That is why I am laying in some of the older stock so I have spares.

Like you I am now looking for a new supplier than MTM (much to my chagrin!)

Every time i go to the range while waiting for a cease fire, i scrounge through the trash bin for the white plastic federal trays. Great for 380, 9mm, 38, 357 etc etc... And four trays fit perfectly in the bottom of a 50 cal ammo can- nice and snug. Can fit 800 38 specials in trays in a can or 1200 380's
