So today was my 30th Birthday. I took a long drive in the country and stopped by a Pawnshop on the way home. Found this beauty with my name all over it:

Thing looks like it's hardly ever been shot...TIGHT lockup and nice trigger. Best part is the guy gave me a birthday special...$350

Serial number is N4536XX...can anyone tell me if this thing is older then me?

Lessee now - 29-2 ... 6 1/2" barrel.

This means, it was pre 1979 when barrel changed to just the 6" instead of 6 1/2". 1969 was when the ''N'' prefix came in ... so - guess it was within that ten year period. No info from the S/N otherwise but a request to Smith could nail it down.

It is tho probably very close to your age, if not perhaps older. Enjoy

Your 6.5" S&W model 29 was made in 1978, as the serial number range
for that year ran from N430001 thru N550000.
