My father, today, is in the McClellan VA hospital in Little Rock in cardiac ICU. He's a marine, 1st Marine Division Guadalcanal WWII veteran. Has the scars from jungle rot on his feet to prove it. When the Gunny came in with a piece of the marine birthday cake for him, it did more for his morale than seeing his girlfriend walk in!
Happy Birthday USMC & a special thanks to the marines who did the duty at McClellan today!!

I used to work with a fella who was a marine vet who served in Iwo Jima and many of the big battles in the Pacific. He retired from the Marine Corps-Master Sargent, I believe. He had some very interesting stories to relate. The Iwo Jimo thing was amazing as most of his company were killed. What a guy! My father was in the Navy during the same period.
