Has anyone changed a red laser lasergrip to use a green laser?

Crimson Trace has a nifty lasergrip for the classic Browning Hi Power where the safety *is* the laser on switch. I think that is the ideal way to mount a laser. Very convenient and positive control.

However, it uses a red laser. Green lasers are MUCH better seen during the day. I called Crimson Trace and they have no intention of coming out with a green laser version of this grip.

I'd love to have such a grip with a green laser for daylight carrying. Has anyone performed surgery on one of these grips and replaced the laser diode?

I shoot with CT red laser grips , what a pleasure . I don't think I would play around changing the diode myself.
Did you give Crimson Trace a call for a change from red to green , daylight use the laser isn't that important. Your really turned off on the red laser , they work just great even in low light .

I had a CrimsonTrace lasergrip on a Ruger P94 several years ago. It came with the firearm and it was a really low price ~300 so I jumped on it. Having never used any laser device on a handgun before I was quite impressed with it. There were a few things I did not like about the CT laser grip such as if I indexed my firing hand index finger too high, it would block the laser diode. I also did not like a Lasergrip that uses a one size fits all method, where if you changed guns, you were shelling out $3-400 for a new grip. At the time, I did not take into consideration the color, because I did not think a different color laser would be much different.

After researching other models at the time from Streamlight, Surefire, bargain lasers off the shelf at stores, I went with Viridian. Viridian started their accessory line with green lasers. The difference is very much night and day compared to red. While red shows up fine in low light, the green on my Viridian could be seen mid day. I tested my Viridian side by side in the US south pointing at a brown dumpster 50 feet away. The Viridian could be seen just fine and I had to get within 7 feet of the dumpster to see the Crimsontrace laser on the dumpster. The CT and Ruger were sold within a few years of my dumpster test.
