Now that it appears that the supply of 4895 surplus has dried up, has anyone seen any surplus powders suitable for 30/06 loading? If not, I'm back to buying canister grade stuff at $100+ per keg.
My testing of WC846 just didn't work out very well, as it leaves too much space in the case.

Cheap powder

Natchez has Accurate 4064 for $90 a jug. I've been using it for awhile and getting better than 'decent' results. They also have 2230-C for $60 but I have no experience with that.

i've been through several 8-lb jugs of 2230-C
i'm quite fond of it.

For cheap stuff the WC846 is about the only thing going I know of. I had decent luck, but not great with it in 30-06 though I didn't experiment long. It's performed quite well in .308 equaling the accuracy of my Varget loads in short order even if the velocity varies more. At 100 yards the target can't tell, at 500 yards it might.

Good luck finding a replacement. Let us know what you settle on :)
