Have any of you come up with a .32 H&R shot load?

Sure be handy for me, but they don't make the little shot capsules. Any ideas??

1. Use one .32 cal gas check seated over the powder
2. Fill with small shot (preferably #12)
3. Crimp a .32 cal gas check on top of the shot.

I have never loaded .32 cal shot loads but that is how I would do it.

Good luck!

I have at one time used gel pill capsules from the druggiest for something, but it was so long ago I can't remember what caliber.

You need an over-powder wad, and a wrap of scotch tape around the capsule to keep it from breaking with a light crimp.

You also need to keep them DRY.
Or They will Dissolve in your Hand, Not in the Cotton-Mouth! :D

I've contemplated the same thing using gas checks. Problem is, 32 cal gas checks are .323, not .312. That, I reason, could be a problem. I have contemplated getting a .312 cast bullet sizer and running them through. Thoughts on that?

Pill capsules not a bad maybe, but I know that these shot loads would see a lot of "travel time", hence the water solubility deal and durability is kind of significant.

Not a bad thought--up-side down over the powder, hoping the "flange" would obturate to .312.

I've also contemplated cutting cardboard wads with a sharpened case in a drillpress. Thoughts?

I have done that too. But a spinning drill press doesn't work so hot.

I have had better luck just punching card wads out with a sharpened case on the end grain of a block of wood.

But then, you have to figure out how to get the cards wads out of the empty case.

A better method is to find a 5/16" leather hole punch.
They have a slot above the punch for the card wad plugs to keep coming out as you are punching along.

I've made them using unique a 30 caliber gas check a quantity of #12 and another 30 cal gas check backwards seated flush with the case mouth. They worked great! but be aware the gas checks are heavy enough to penetrate things.

Mr. Krochus, would you care to share your load data? Powder, weight, shot quantity (weight).

3.5 grs of UNIQUE

Both gas checks are seated "backwards" the first GC is seated .600 below the case mouth using a LYMAN 7.62x39 sizer die with the decap pin removed.

Then 62grs of No12 shot and a gas check seated tight over everything finally a stout crimp

Thank you, sir. Is the reason for seating the first check at .600 to create a shot cavity, or is it necessary to stay off of the powder? Since Unique is used a fair amount in shotshells with the wad right on the powder, I wouldn't have thought that there was a problem with having the check right down on the powder, giving maximum shot space. Am I correct in reading that you are talking .308 checks, not .32 cal?
