Have you ever broken a Ruger handgun?

Yep. Broke something internal on a single six that locked it up. Gunsmith fixed it, didn't say what it was.

Also know a guy who had his ejector rod break off a super Blackhawk while firing. The screw itself is still broken off in the barrel, and he's just kept using it that way for years.

I like Rugers, but they're just guns, and guns can wear out or break.

Two, sort of.

The first was a Security Six of the 151- serial number range. It was my first issue revolver when I joined the Border Patrol. I was NOT it's first Agent. After three years or so and the Lord only knows how many rounds, the trigger return spring broke - which is what I think happened to Old Fuff on page one. The revolver would still fire, but the trigger had to be manually pushed back forward. (It wasn't broken so it wouldn't fire safely, just awkwardly.) The 'armory' replaced the spring. In the interest of time, I was issued another Security Six.

Number Two was a personally owned Super Blackhawk (New Model). It was used, I bought it as a used gun. The transfer bar became distorted at the top and didn't reliably pass on the impact of the hammer to the firing pin. Ruger shipped me a replacement part when I called them and I replaced it. It works fine now.

Neither arm was damaged or permanently inoperable. So I'm not sure these count as 'broken' in the sense of the question.

I am pretty much in favor of Ruger, though.
