There's an awesome range in way south Pennsylvania that lets you rent quite a few Class 3's.

The MP5 is fun on a bun. I'd own one if they didn't cost more than my truck.

Yes, an AR15 with a LL and an MP5 rental at a local range.

The MP5 rental got sold a few years ago, for more than I paid for all three of the vehicles I owned at the time. Two of them have been replaced, and the added cost of them still kept me under the selling price of that sear gun...

Like a lot of the other guys Uncle Sam gave me the opportunity for plenty of work with the M16 and the M60, a long time ago. And then a few years ago Uncle Sam hooked me up with an M4 for a while.

Have fired two Thompson variations, an S&W M76, an M3 "Greasegun", a 9mm Ingram, and an American-180.

All fun, none mine, and none recently.

Funny story . . . buddy of mine had two Thompsons. We met at a local (private) range to shoot them, and another guy was there with his girlfriend . . . and a Thompson. He was almost apologetic and asked us as fellow range members if we'd be OK with his shooting a full auto. (he didn't know what we had with us.) We allowed as, for a fellow range member, we'd tolerate it.

He then explained to his girlfriend that full autos were rare, and he wanted to be sure we were OK with it.

He fired a few bursts, and as he was swapping mags . . . we cut loose with "ours."

The look his girlfriend gave him was priceless . . . "What do you mean they're rare? EVERYONE ON THE RANGE HAS ONE!!!" :neener:

In the Army I shot the M2, M60, M16 and M3 (Grease Gun). I also got to fire a few AK47s that the previous owners no longer had need of.

Thompson and the MP-40.

My opinion was that the MP-40 was a bit more controllable than the Thompson; seemed the Thompson had more 'muzzle climb'.
