The article, a filler piece, appearing in my local paper was headlined Pay Raise Gains In House. For the fifth straight year, our congress critters (house and senate) are intent on taking a cost-of-living pay kick, this one, if it goes through will boost their pay to 158,000 for 2004.

Looking at the state of the nation, the current JOBLOSS RECOVERY, the ballooning federal deficit, international affairs and the domestic economy, what have these people done to deserve their pay, let along a pay raise, other than to survive in office, precious little, it appears from where this citizen sits.

Absent all manner of hell being raised, possibly even with the afore mentioned having been raised, this payjacking business will pass, it might well pass in any case, as it was somehow attached to the 2004 spending bill that provides money for Treasury Dept. and Transportation, the article states. One wonders as to how these things get attached to each other, however the answer might be all to obvious.

In any event, let your congress critters know of your thoughts on/objections to this fiasco, assuming that you find the idea of another pay raise for them objectionable. The TOLL FREE phone number for Capitol Switchboard is as follows. 1-800-648-3516. Just tell whichever of the ladies who answer, which congressional or senate office you want to speak with. As the manual that comes with the Dillon Reloading Press says, DON'T SUFFER IN SILENCE.
