I'm Currently Purchasing A Gun That Was Shipped To A Ffl,it Was Overnighted To The Ffl And I've Made Several Calls To The Individual Im Dealing With & Left A Return Number With No Reply, Why Do I Feel Like It's More Of An Annoyance To Them , Than A $25.00 Profit,...i Kinda Get The Feeling That When You Have A Gun Shipped To Ffl They Think To Themselves ''well He Did'nt Buy It From Me'' I Dont Care,am I Justified In Feeling This Way?

I Get That Attitude From Some Of Them Too. If Their Prices Were More In Line With The Market They'd Be Making The Sale. Usually The Ones That Act That Way Are The Same Folks Who Charge Ridiculous Transfer Fees.

Why Are We Capitalizing Every Word In Our Sentences? Seriously, It's Freaking Me Out.

Anyway, my way of thought is that if it was truly a PITA for them, then they wouldn't offer the service, so they charge the $$$ in anticipation of the random annoyances that come up.

He's Definitly Aware , He Sent A Fax To The Dealer I'm Buying It From, With His Ffl And Info,...guns Already Pd For...

Me: Is this this Rabbi *******?
Rabbi: It is...
Me: You transferred one for me last year, can you help me out again?
Rabbi: Give me the info, I'll drop you a line when it's in.
Email from Rabbi about 3 days later, me flying down to pick it up along with ammo he has on hand. Love working with this guy! YRMV...
Regards,

Your FFL is a RABBI?!

Certainly is. Nothing like saying "Honey, I got to go see the Rabbi for some ammo". :D See Eastside Gun Shop on Trinity Lane, Nashville, TN. Transfer discounts for repeat customers.

ge0624me - sounds like you need to look around for a new FFL Transfer Agent. I use a mom-and-pop pawn shop instead of "my" local gun shop. Gun shop is doing me a big favor to take my $30 and listen to them bitch whilst calling in the "permission". Folks at the pawn shop admire my "new" purchase when taking my $15 and making the call. Google is your friend..........

I'm just doing a trade (my 1st) and my FFL is and always has been extremely helpful and polite. I've called him 3 times for advise and/or info on the proper proceedures and he always takes the time to explain it to me. Thay are really great and he only charges $10 for the paper work/phone call.

The gent that I'm trading with says that one of his FFL holders is rather rude so he went thru someone else this time.

Moral : find someone how treats you like a valued customer..... or your Rabbi.:)

FFL dealers in FL and SC

I have been a FFL dealer for over 9 years, and have done a lot of transfer's
I charge $20.00 for a short or long gun and Iam glad to get that.
I have transfered them for $10.00 and a big 0 depending who it is
even someone that is not a regular customer has a chance to get one for
nothing. If he or she transfers 3 guns in a 6 month period, the third one is free.
It takes less than 5 min's to do a transfer and the customer fills out the
4473, do it on line!!! I don't even open the box when the arm gets here I
wait till the guy or gal that paid for it gets there.
I have seen some $60.00 fee's and It was schocking for a country boy!!!
I have been annoyed at FFL dealers! If they can't transfer a firearm
at a decent price they should not advertise that they can do them!!!
Most of them, not all, thinks they are like God and acts like a #*^
idiot. So if find a good FFL stick to him.
If a dealer charges you tax they should be put in jail, thats armed robbery
7 years min. in SC for armed Robbery!!!

The FFL I deal with does it from home as a sideline/hobby. He also sells new guns, but not much that I'm interested in. Mostly the popular polymer-style pistols of the day, but I did get a great deal on a new Bersa Thunder .380 for $225.

He has a new Bersa Thunder .45 he was showing me tonight for $315. He also had two brand-new GSG-5's that just came today, but are already sold. www.protekt.us

At least your FFL fee is $25.00. Out here in HI it's $50.00 per transfer.

Yeah, that's right. 50 bucks per transfer.

CA is very high. $60-100 per gun is normal. They also have to pay sales tax on the gun they buy out of state. Been in place for over 60 years.

I charge $20 per gun.

As a new dealer I'm surprised to hear of the problems or reluctance. The profit is in the transfer and not the gun sale. There is less paper work doing just a transfer.

The only dealers that actually make money on the sale of firearms are brick & motar stores with lots of volume. Usually they make their profit on all the accessories, fish tackle, range fees, and so on.

Anyone in the northern Illinois area that needs a transfer, let me know.
$20 per transfer- no other fees. 5th transfer is FREE.

Wish I could find a cheaper transfer around here. The store with a range charges $55+background check, two places in town charge $45 including, one charges $65+... A place into Tampa charges $20 and I've heard nothing but good--he even specializes in EBR's--but between the gas to get there and the fact that I have to drive through Tampa negates that. Tampa's all one-way streets and now way to get to things on the left side of the road. Having to drive an extra mile to do a U-turn, and having stop lights with groups of thugs around them ever 1/8th mile ruins it.

I'm fairly happy with 2nd Amendment Armory here. Quarter mile away from me, small shop, but the owner's a nice knowledgeable guy.

Idly thinking about getting an FFL just to do transfers and used sales on the side, but dunno about the paperwork storage and ATF audits...

Thank you sir! I am one of the Florida gun guys suffering from the FFL 'conspiracy' here in Central Florida of high cost (>$50) transfers. We could sure use a dealer like you here!

I make a decent amount of profit on gun sales and I'm a home based FFL.
