I found powder and primers at Midway and had them shipped to my work, which I've done with several other orders from Midway, Brownells, Luckygunner, etc.

This was the first time a hazmat order wasn't delivered to my home. Has this been a problem for anybody else?

My package has been all over the state, 3 days late and returned to sender.
(sounds like a country song:)).

This was after Midway taking a week to get it out the door so I reordered powder from Brownells and also having it shipped to my work.

I'm now wondering if hazmat orders are touchy and the name and address must match perfectly? Could be that UPS or Midway just goofed but I may not know for a while since Midway isn't answering the phone and email response is really slow.

It really depends on the carrier but anything with a 1.3 placard is going to be treated with a bit more concern. You may want to check carrier policies regarding shipping 1.3 stuff as it pertains to shipping address and names. There may be some kind of alternate policy when it comes to shipping explosives to your particular employer.

The powder I ordered from Powder Valley last month was the first powder I had ever purchased online. It showed up on my doorstep and was left there for a few hours until I woke up. Just like any other package. Figured explosives might need a signature or something, but apparently not.

Anything Ive ordered that had a hazmat charge, has required an adult signature.

Other than them charging $25-$30 for the BS fee, they always came like any other order.

If I buy powder and primers online, I usually wait for the sales that wave the hazmat and have free shipping. Brownells usually does this a couple of times a year. Otherwise, its cheaper to shop locally and not pay the shipping.

Sometimes a signature is required. I live in a rural area and most of the delivery people know everyone and will scribble on the line or leave the package at a neighbors place.

I ordered some powder and primers about a month ago, HazMat, adult signature required, and all of that. I forgot to send it to my work, had it shipped to my house. My wife postponed plans so that she could be there to sign for it. Sitting in the living room, heard a quiet tap on the door. Got up to sign, carrier was halfway to the truck. Never tried to get a signature, just ran. Guessing it was a hands-off policy to keep the virus down or something, but odd.

USPS still requires a signature. Ive had three in the past week that I had to sign.

Why have the signature thing if you dont have to sign? Id love to see it go away, as its a PITA to have to give up a portion of the day waiting.

UPS handed me mine, asked me if I was the guy on the label and handed me my package when I replied in the affirmative. No signature, and Bob's your uncle.

My powder arrived a little while ago. I saw the FedEx truck stop and met the driver at the door. He pushed the box at me and beat feet, no signature, no nuttin. I guess opening the door at the label address was sufficient ID for him.

I put the box in the shop and washed my hands.

Right.
I'm just into my last can of Bullseye and have some HP38 besides.
I won't really need that keg of Bullseye for a while, probably next year, if I survive.

I emailed Midway yesterday and got a response today. They are certain of the address and confirmed it’s where I received several previous orders. Looks like it’s a UPS goof. Midway will ship it back to me when they receive it.

Sometimes UPS/FED-Ex will hand over packages to USPS for delivery to a business if the business does not have a problem with it. If this is the case with the place where you work, it would be kicked back as USPS cannot and will not touch HAZMAT.

Yes, and can of paint went a tour of my state, due to a mix-up where UPS tried to do a hand-off to USPS.

I guess anything is possible. We shipped a $10,000 job from the shop a few weeks ago through FedEx. They lost it. A week later UPS delivered it.

Update on my lost hazmat order. After UPS drove it all around the country, tenderized it more than normal, Midway got it back and re shipped it to the exact same address. Received a couple days later no problems. All just a UPS goof and appears to have nothing to do with shipping to a second address.

I’ve had on several occasions, none recently received notice from UPS of a delayed shipment due to package being placed on wrong truck. This in the New England Area
Last week a FEDEX Hazmat delivery of primers was left at the front door. No signature required.

It’s too bad Amazon doesn’t carry reloading supplies or relate good in general. The rest of the shipping world could learn a few things from their shipping methods and times I believe.
