I have a Beeman RS2 with only the .177 barrel. What would be the heaviest recommended pellet for squirrels at 10 yards? I am planning to use pointed or domed pellets.
I don't know that you're getting any real benefit from going with an especially heavy pellet. I'd start with something in the 10-11gr range and experiment until you find a pellet that is really accurate in your gun.
Yes, the 10 grain range was about the most I was seriously considering. Might get one tin of the JSB Exact Monster 13 grain just to push the edge of the envelope. I plan to set up a box of multiple spaced sheets of 5 mm plywood to have a somewhat practical measure of which penetrate deepest.
Even a big squirrel is only about 3" side-to-side and you don't need that much penetration to get reliable kills. If you get a pellet in the 10-11 grain range that will shoot accurately in your gun, I think you're going to have what you need.
I'd start testing with domed pellets. They are usually the best bet for long range accuracy.
