Hello Florida, can anyone confirm this?

I have not heard anything about that. In fact..................other than the places that it is illegal to carry into, I've not seen any such signs. And if I do, that place instantly looses my business.

I can't remember seeing any such signs either (except for places like banks, pawn shops, government buildings, etc.). You'll never see or hear anything positive regarding guns or CCW on any of our local media.

In the eight months that I've been living here, I have seen one sign that stated "no firearms".
That sign was at the strawberry festival in plant city. Actually, it was part of a list of prohibited items. Knives, guns, drugs, alcohol, etc. .
There were a lot of LEO's at the festival, but I did notice some citizens were carrying anyway.
I'm wondering, if they were "made" by a cop, would they be asked to leave the grounds, or would they be placed under arrest?

If they were made..

The may have been asked to leave. As far as I understand the rules, "no weapons" signs in Florida have no legal weight.

If the owner knows you are carrying, he may ask you to leave.

If you do not, you risk tresspassing(i believe) charges -- not firearms ones.

There are two stores in my town that have no weapons signs. One is a gun store the other is an Army/Navy surplus store that sells guns. They are both located on th esame street not to far from each other.

The surplus store is particularly aggravating because next to the sign which reads no loaded weapons there is a sign saying how they support CCW. I have asked employees they support concealed carry since they sell guns, but they do not want people to carry in their shop.

A few months ago a man walked into their shop and asked to se a couple guns. He didn't buy any a walked out.

A while later he came back in and asked to see one of the guns again. While he had it he pulled a single bullet from his pocket and loaded the pistol.

He then ordered everyone out of the store and later committed suicide.

A search on the Daytona Beach News journal's website should bring up the article.

The stores that deal in firearms generally have signs stating only unloaded guns can be brought in the store. This is an attempt to minimize accidental discharges in the store by having people clear their firearms before entering. As with any other location where you can legally carry a concealed firearm, the sign means nothing. Besides, if it is truly concealed, the store owner will never know you brought a loaded gun into his business.

The only place around here with a no gun sign is a Dollar Movie theater. I don't recall any big time crimes ever taking place there. When I go in, I still carry.

Other than Gunshops, which employees tell me are more for the unitiated, I haven't seen any signs since 1987
