I just bought a standard Fobus belt holster for my SA XD. The problem is the retention is just too tight. I am going to be using this holster to shoot in my Club IPSC event and on Wed nights for a steel plate league. As it is now I feel like I am going pull my belt off every time I go to draw my XD. I need to somehow bend out the small dimple that is holding the gun in too tight. It is a small piece of plastic about the size of a dime. When the pistol is in the holster it is located directly over the trigger. If I could some how flatten out that dimple the holster would be perfect for what I am planning to use it for.

Has anyone ever experimented with altering their kydex holster?? I guess I could just break out the Dremel, but it seems like it would be easier to heat up the plastic and then slowly adjust it to the desired retention. HELP

The only thing holding this one together are small metal rivets. It is the basic model maybe if I would have sprung some extra cash I could have gotten the deluxe model.

I have a heat gun I use to change hockey stick blades. That would probably work well to loosen it up a little.

Oh, and where is this steel plate league at?

We shoot steel plates every Wed. night for the next ten weeks. One league is slowfire, 6 shots at six plates. Then there is a Speed league. You have to draw and shoot all six plates down as fast as possible best time wins.

We are located in River Falls, WI about 30 minutes East of downtown St Paul. We are also going to have a monthly IPSC match. First one is this Sunday.

You will find that it loosens up with time.
You also have to draw the gun at the correct angle.
Get busy dry practicing.
