Scale can be affected by EMI

I recently just got into reloading. I have been trying to load some 9mm Luger. I am using a Hornady GS-1500 scale which seems to be the problem

It seems this scale will not cooperate and will never give me an accurate reading.

Thanks

What happens when you take weight a powder charge, remove it and weigh the self-same powder a number of times? If you don't get the same reading each time, checkt to make sure you keep your scale away from electrical sources, especially electric motors or flourescent lights.

EMI (electromagnetic interference) can and does affect many electronic scales, especially those without adequate shielding (usually the cheaper ones). That Hornady might have such a problem would surprize me, but I suppose it can happen.

If moving your scale away from electromagnetic emanators cures the problem and it returns when they get closer again, I would contact Hornady. You may have a defective scale which they would replace under warranty.

Good luck.
