So I went to a gun show over the weekend and picked up some 8mm Mauser surplus ammo, but have no idea where it was made. The round is marked 7.9/FS/1947/TOC. The "O" is actually some symbol or letter I can't replicate easily on the computer, sort of like an O with some flames on top. I understand 7.9 mean 7.92x57, and 1947 is the year of manufacture so it's corrosive, but can anyone tell me anything else about this particular ammunition? Thanks in advace.

Its loaded very hot, or I should say to the 8mm's potential. It tends to work best in earlier full length rifles for some reason (maybe they had a different rifling twist rate??)- for instance, it shoots well in my 98/22s, 98/29,and turk 38s, but poorly in my M48 and K98.

That's what it is. Thanks for the help. I bought it for my Yugo 24/47, so I guess it might not work the best. At least it was cheap and came on stripper clips in bandoleers.
