Hey all, I am helping a friend with an issue he has with his Huglu. He is having issues with light primer strikes, the previous owner "altered" the firing pin but he isn't sure what was done. Does anyone know if the Huglu pump shotgun uses a Remington / Mossberg style firing pin and spring? I may be able to get the gun to take a look. I've sold many of the 870's and 500/590's when I worked in a gun store but I only own one pump action Winchester Model 12. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To add, he isn't looking to replace the gun, I know about Huglu's quality, or lack thereof. He paid around $180 so it isn't a huge loss if he has to replace it or a handful of parts, but for the moment lets focus on the possibility of replacing the firing pin / springs. Thanks!

Huglu's are actually pretty well regarded as far as Turkish shotguns go. They make the new CZ branded shotguns. Any of the big parts houses should have what you need. Some 870 parts will work, but there isn't a cross reference that I am aware of. Not sure what anyone would have modified on the firing pin unless it was too long and piercing primers. I have seen lots of hammer springs that were shortened too much in an effort to improve trigger quality.

Huglus, especially pre 2009 models, suffered from weak firing pins, among other issues. Is the pin head cratered?

I'll have to see the FP when he gets the bolt out for me, or I may have to take it apart. Not sure yet.
