Help with a stuck case

Jerk: "Wet as in with water. "

Goodness. Well, my comment said "properly" lubed; if you think a case wet with water is a proper way to lube then I stand corrected. Otherwise....

When they came out with the spray lube I thought that it would be great and the first can worked. So when it ran out I got a new can and cases started sticking on a regular basis. I got real good with my stuck case remover. I stopped using the sprays and went to imperial sizeing wax and I haven't had a problem since. Might have been a bad batch but I won't go back.

I bought a stuck case remover, years ago. After seeing it, I probably had everything that I needed in my toolbox. This was before PC's and the Internet, and I had never seen one, and had no idea how they worked. It came with a plastic box, just like reloading dies come in, and I still have it. I have added a larger drill bit and a 5/16 tap, for a case that I REALLY stuck.

Stuck cases are usually due to a lack of lube. A loose fitting shellholder can also contribute. A little lube on the inside of the neck will help reduce case stretch when you drag it back over the expander ball.

I would go ahead and either buy a stuck case remover or assemble one. Its sort of like an insurance policy! It also never hurts to have a few spare decapping pins and even a spare expander. It seems like I only have these problems when I'm on a tight schedule. Lightman

With all the people going to wet tumbling it happens more and more often.

If the cases are wet on the outside, they most certainly are on the inside. Seems like a bad idea to load wet cases.

Ditto on the shell holders being a potential issue. I got a 30-30 case stuck the other day and couldn't figure out why. Turns out I had used the wrong shell holder, it was barely holding it down and stripped metal away from the rim. Case came out easy enough later. Lesson learned.
