I took my S&@ 327 to the range and shot about 100 rounds and when I got home to clean it, I noticed that the rear site (the blade part) was loose. I don't think it was loose to start with but I noticed cleaning after. The blade part doesn't move side to side but rather it rocks a little from front to back. It's just a loose. Can this be corrected easily, or do I have to send it in to S&W for repair?

Here is a picture of the rear site if it helps, if I can figure out how to display pictures.

All current S&W rear sight blades are loose in the manner you describe. They are designed that way. It does not effect your accuracy in any way. It is normal and is OK. Im sitting here feeling the rear sight blade on my new model 386 right now and it rocks back and forth just like yours.

Since it's the part of the sight that adjusts for windage it's gotta be loose (to some degree) enough to allow lateral movement. Don't know how one would go about tightening it up (front to rear rocking) without affecting lateral play.
Note: Anyone, please feel free to correct me if I err in my assessment.

It maybe just me, but on a performance center type gun, I wouldn't expect anything to be loose but that's just me. I've read on other forums where people have used loctite with some success but I don't think that's the best solution. I guess we just live with it.

Baba louie,

You are correct. It is part of the design.

Why fix what aint broke? Geeze.

You can replace and restake the locknut to tighten the rear sight blade up if you want.
A local gunsmith familiar with S&W revolvers can do the work or you can send the gun back to S&W with a detailed letter, they will fix it for you under warranty but it might take some time to get the gun back to you.
There is some information on how to go about sending the gun back for repeir at the smith and wesson website under customer service.
