Hi everybody, this perhaps should be on the pistol forum, but I thought I might get more response here, so here goes. I am looking at a Smith & Wesson model 1 2nd issue 7 shot revolver with the three correct patent dates on the cylinder. A rolled marking I can not place is on the left side of the barrel near the cylinder. It is Kittridge, Cin, O. This ser #104xxx. The ejector rod is missing other wise the piece should rate good to very good. Any ideas as to the markings and guestimated value? Thanks, Alan
Hey, I found Kittridge, it was a company of that era who advertised and sold sporting goods and military items. Dumb me, I just had to dig a little deeper. Now the question is; does that nice looking roll mark add or detract from the value of the piece? Thanks again everybody, Alan.

B. (Benjamin) Kittredge & Co. was a major firearms distributor and importer at that time, with offices in Cincinnati and New Orleans. Some sources credit Kittredge with originating the names "Thunder" and "Lightning" for Colt double action revolvers, but others attribute that flight of fancy to E. C. Meacham of St. Louis.
