I ordered a Henry H001Y lever action .22 youth today. While researching which peep sight to put on it (decided on a Williams WGRS-54), I discovered a couple post on the web that said that recently Henry has started replacing the plastic barrel band and front sight with metal versions of the same parts. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, these guns just became that much better of a value!

Just curious, but has anyone looked inside one of these new guns to see if any of the internals have also been changed? Thanks guys.

A buddy just bought a new H001 at Cabala's day before yesterday.
Tag indicates it was made in July 2011.

It has the funky plastic front sight.

Anyone know if the steel band & ramp for $10 bucks deal is still in effect??

Otherwise, I was pretty impressed with the fit & finish.
It came out of the box shooting 2" left and low at 10 yards with CCI Long CB caps in the basement.
A quick rear sight adjustment had it shooting one hole groups exactly POA.

My god that scope is a long ways back!

How do you keep from getting hit in the eye with it?
