Hi-Point 995 Carbine Accessories

I'm having difficulty locating a sling for my 9mm old Model 995 (solid buttstock) Hi-Point carbine. Hi-Point doesn't advertise them and can't find other sources.

BTW, I'm looking for an extra mag for it too. Hi-Point has the regular 10 rd. mag for $18.50. Sportsman's Guide has a 15 rd. "Aftermarket" mag for 17.99.
I'd like the extra 5 rds., but think the Hi-Point factory mag may be more dependable.

Please let me know if any of you guys have had any experiences with the above sling and / or mag supply.

My 995 has been 100% reliable with the factory mag. Not so with the 15 rd mags.

Can't help with the sling. Mine came with one.

The 1st gen HP 995's have the swivels at the end of the buttstock and near the muzzle.

As for the mags, stick with the OEM's from HP. They have been flawless on my HP. I also have a few ProMag 15 round mags. They required a little tweaking (e.g. sit fully loaded & adj feed lips).

Shouldn't be hard to find a sling to fit it. Anything aftermarket has to be better than the nylon strap that came with it. I have two 995's, one bought new, and still have all the "sling" stuff that came with it. Bleh. Not impressed with that stuff, but the carbines are sweet.

I too have had poor luck with anything but the original factory mags. As far as the sling goes, I would just give them a call. I am 100% sure they would sell you one for a reasonable price over the phone.

Thanks for the good advise. I'll be sure to stick with HP factory mags.

The problem with the sling is there is no place on the stock to attach a sling.
Being an old model (about 15 years) they probably lacked the sling option then. I don't know if the plastic stock will allow drilling, etc., to attach swivels.

Does anybody know if the stock will crack if drilling screw holes?
I'd rather not have a sling if it ruins my stock. Please advise.

As to the mags...

I had a couple factory and a couple of the aftermarket 15 round mags a few years back when I had a 995. Not sure of the brand, I picked them up at Cabelas. The factory ones worked exactly like they should at all times. The extended mags fed FMJ just fine but did not like the HP bullets that I tried. And they wouldnt lock the bolt back until I "modified" them. I shot FMJ 99% of the time just screwing around at the range so it wasnt too big a deal to me. I mainly used the 15 rounders.
