A lot of threads exist on this very subject here on "The High Road", but generally speaking, the consenus is:
Ugly, inexpensive, functional arms. 10-round magazines only. If it breaks, Hi-Point fixes it free..doesn't matter if you are first owner, or if it is 'previously owned' by many folks.

Not the most AP {Aesthetically Pleasing} firearms*** out there, but they go Bang! on request every time, and put the lead where you aim. What more can you ask of a sub-$250 carbine? I don't own any Hi-Point arms, but I have shot most of their models at some time over the last few years. (I am part of an informal shooting group...call ourselves 'The Cheap Galoots') waiting for Hi-Point to release the .45ACP carbine...
