I need an education on BHP mags. Just finalized a deal on a 1976 Browning Hi-power and I now needs some 13rd mags.

I see CDNN has some 13 rd Browning Hi-power factory mags:

What is the difference with the 13 round mags GUNTHINGS has?

***EDIT*** for some reason I can't link directly to the mags. Click on pistols on the left of page anf and it will take you there.

any where else that you all can recommend for 13 rounders?

I've got three Hi Powers, and I suggest you buy MecGar magazines. They offer them in both 13 rounds and 15 rounds, and like all MecGar magazines, they work flawlessly.

The mags that Gunthings sells were made in a country that made the HP under license from FN. They are not FN mags.

I believe that MecGar actually makes the mags for FN/Browning.

MecGar does make the magazines for Browning, at least these days. I just ordered two 20-round MecGar mags from cheaperthandirt.com. I already had two 13-round mags that were Browning-marked.

MecGar is supposedly the shizznit. I have two of their magazines for a Beretta (I'm told MecGar makes mags for them, too), and I'm very pleased with them.

I bought some of the mags from gunthings -- they are very good mags. I've had zero problems with them.

I do prefer the genuine Mec-Gar mags to them -- they are higher quality, but as I said, I have had zero problems with either.

THe thing is that Mec-Gars can be had for quite a bit cheaper than that, so I would recomment going with those. ;) Can't go wrong with mec-gars.

Who has the BROWNING 13 round mags with the mouse-trap spring? I know someone makes them, but all I can find with the moustrap spring are the 10 round mags.

If your in the market for BHP magazines I do recommend going with factory Browning or Mec-Gar 13 rounders. Most dealers carry them, it's just who has the best price with lowest shipping. You have a lot of research ahead if you want to save a few bucks.

Here is an interesting website concerning Browning Hi-Power magazines:

I've got MecGar, Triple K, Pro-Mag, FEG factory mags + Canadian Surplus... all have worked well though I have one Triple K mag that is sticking... think I just need to replace the follower.

The KRD mags I have really never did work right... luckily I only bought two.

The best magazine I have is the Ramline 15 shot flush fit... wicked slick operation but when fully loaded rattles a little. This one has never mis-fed or jammed.

They work good, too.

I usually am leery of "plus capacity" mags, but their 15's have been flawless.

...and I don't think the "rat trap" mags come in anything other than 10 round. If I'm not mistaken, it was one of the very few (and possibly the only) instance of somebody making lemonaid out of the '94 AWB lemon. i.e. didn't exist prior.

They sure do. These are only offered by Browning, but they are out there all right. :)

Yes, the Hi-Power is not like the 1911 in the fact that only a few makers (like Wilson and McCormick) make decent mags and everything else is garbage.

I have a few 17rd mags from CDNN as well as Mec Gars and FN military issue mags and all work fine. The Mec Gars I have were made in Italy and Mec Gar makes Beretta and Sig's factory mags, so you know they're decent quality.

Midway has them (dealer pricing) them for $27 and change ... when they are in stock. I've had 3 on order since early September and they are now projected for the end of this month.

Whoa, thanks for the tip! I'll have to put an order in for a couple. I thought that (up until now) only Browning offered them.
