Does anyone have a stainless steel 1911 that has been polished to a mirror finish? I'd like to see a couple of pictures if you do. I'm still trying to decide on exactly what I want in a 1911 when I buy one for graduation in May.

RIA has a Chrome 1911 in 38 Super (all I have saw have been 38super ) Looks great I wouldn't carry but looks good. 38 Super is a good caliber also.

My 1st pistol was a bright stainless Colt 1911a1. Over the years from use it has become scratched and if I were to do it over again, I would have bought the matte stainless. I have even thought of having it blasted to a matte finish. I don't think it's worth the money especially if you shoot the gun often.

If you want a high polish that will last, get the M1911 of your choice and then have the slide hardchromed & polished (recommend Virgil Tripp). This will give you a hard (RC62-65) & shiny surface.

Frame is polished stainless, slide is high polished and blued. Stainless has a tendency to show scratches, requires more maintenance. Nickle or chrome plated is more resistant and needs little to no work.

Hmm... So a hard chrome finish will not scratch at all or only less than stainless? I had contemplated a hard chrome finish, maybe I should give that more thought.

BTW Rembrant, that Colt is absolutely beautiful.

I have never, ever liked highly-polished firearms - ever.

That, however, made me whistle out loud. Absolutely gorgeous.
