Watched episode again:

I like the slow mo shots.
I would like to see vapor trail shots
Exploding targets are a nice touch

I am looking forward to the next episode to see what its like. Its a good thing ,and it was actually not bad tv.

Kenno,

Great post.

Physical endurance is crucial in surviving real world gun shoots. Therefore, I see no reason to exclude it from a shooting contest.
A big +1. Anybody who has played paintball or even a decent laser tag game can attest to what a workout it can be. And besides the workout itself there's the challenge of hitting something when you heart is beating 150 times a minute.

Dude, Kelly is looking good on the Beretta 92!

I wonder if he was using the "Im not really a pistol shooter and im not 100% confident", then he drilled them.

either he really is a great shooter and is able to accept direction very well and adapt or he really is a pistol shooter and was playing the game.

IMO if your a gun geek like me, you tend to pickup things really fast involving shooting. I'm only 17 yet a better shot then most people I've seen in person.

(Sorry if it sounds to farfetched or something like that:uhoh:)

The big thing this week isn't any of the shooting, it'll be the drop-off in ratings (if any) from last week. If the show maintains its ratings (or improves on them), it's a hit and may get a second season.

That's 2 million+ people watching a show about shooting each week, which is a win for the shooting sports no matter how you slice it. If I were doing the ad buys for Versus and Outdoor Channel, I'd be buying up all the local cable ads for this show I could in order to show off my shows as the logical next step from Top Shot.

Ben Stoeger,

Did you design that zip line? Was it as fun as it looks?

The elimination this week was much more interesting than last week, and it involved actual shooting!
I have some experience shooting at moving targets with a handgun or should I say trying to shoot at moving targets with a handgun. I could not have imagined trying to pull that off. I bet it would be pretty fun though.

Better show this week than last. Zip-lines might show up in some THR backyards...i've got mine in already, but haven't been properly utilizing it apparently.

It would be nice if the producers mentioned basic firearms safety rules for the viewers new to shooting...

My wife watched it with me this week. Her comment: "If you are going on a show featuring different styles of shooting, wouldn't you get at least some training/practice with different weapons?" I don't think she was impressed with some of the shooters.

That is a good point. I would imagine that some of them (like Kelly) did just that.

Tell you what - that zipline course of fire had me worried. I was fully expecting to see one of the two shooters pop a cap - a kneecap, that is. Sitting down with your legs in front of the gun, adrenaline surging, targets appearing rapidly, it didn't seem very safe to me.

I thought it was a good show this week. I wouldn't have minded being behind that 1903 last week, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be on that zipline this week. Looked fun though.

These are the Top Shots! You really have to instruct a 24-year Swat veteran how to shoot a Beretta?

I think its hilarious that they included a die-hard Glock fanboy.

that guy was ANNOYING this week. I know so many people like him. opinions on EVERYTHING and its always something's fault but his.

For all you "I don't understand the hate about glock grip angle" guys... THAT kool-aid drinker pretty much summed it up :D

Im getting a little bored with the Beretta's for the handgun shoots. Lets see them mix in some 1911, Glock, BHP, Single Action ect. IMO every vote should be a new gun and every "shoot off" should mix it up as well.

Satisfy as many people as you can in that 42 minutes of video

To answer a few questions:

I did not come up with the zipline thing. I did test it a few times, and helped position the targets. Great care was taken to make sure it was fair, because Frank is left handed they wanted to make sure that the targets were symmetrical.

In testing, I did not think the zipline thing was THAT tough. I was surprised that Brad only got 5 hits. He really should have been able to get 8-10 without too much effort. I really think that the thing psyched them out.

As for any safety concerns, the zipline was safe. No target was positioned to tempt the shooter to fire close to their legs, regardless of how it looked on TV.

As for Frank, he is a SUPER guy. If you ever get a chance to meet him in person you will see how nice and how friendly he really is.

I kind of liked it.
The preview of bow n arrow for next week and clips of crossbows and throwing knives is getting too far afield for me, though. I assume the intent is to, as the woman said, to get them out of their comfort zone and rely on innate ability.

Thanks, Ben. If you watched the zipline segment on TV as opposed to being there, you'll probably agree that it looked dangerous, but it's often been proven that the camera can make angles and distances look completely different from reality. It appeared that several targets were below and in front of the shooter going down the line.

I got the feeling that you are right about Frank. He seemed to be a stand-up sort of guy - no excuses. It would appear that the best man didn't win in that particular contest, and it would also appear that the best shooter of the group didn't even compete in it.
