Besides size, is there any significant difference between the two? I'm looking for something for recreational target shooting with possibly getting competitive later on. I know someone might mention that a glock 34 is half the price, ya I know but lets stick to the question presented here. Thanks

According to the HK catalog; "Except for the longer slide, the USP Elite and Expert are identical".

However, the catalog lists the Elite .45 at 1.9 pounds and the Expert at 2.3 pounds. I'd call that a difference.

Since you mentioned the two in the same post, here is my H&K Elite and My Glock 34 for comparison.

I chose the Elite over the Expert because the longer barrel allow a little bit more velocity.
Both pistols are very large in the grip.
If you have small hands you may find either a bit unwieldy.
Spare magazines are expensive too, $50.00 a piece and if you are like me you will want at least four extras, count that in the end price.

Accuracy and reliability have been phenominal with my pistol and I would bet an Expert will shoot as well.

The weights the previous poster listed should be reversed,
The Larger Elite is also the heavier pistol.
