I have been thinking of picking up one of the many German Police trade-in H&K P7PSP imports that it seems everyone are selling these days (still not sure if I want to get a B grade or A grade one). I never owned or really handled one in person a P7PSP or P7M6 before, so I'm not sure what to except with the squeeze cocker platform. From everything I have been hearing about them on all the gun boards, is most people either end up really loving them, or end up not really caring for them (not for them). I know they are suppose to be a highly accurate pistol, with the fixed barrel design.

My only concern right now about buying one (and is sort of holding me back) is the mag supply for them right now seems very low (from my understanding all of these A and B grade P7PSP police trade-ins are only coming with one mag included). Why is it I am hearing that everyone has a boat load of these police trade-in pistols imported into the U.S. to sell, but the spare mags for them have all but dried up (CDNN officially has no more of them, not even the used ones). Isn't H&K importing spare mags for the P7PSP into the U.S. as well (if they are, it isn't enough (IMHO)? I have tried doing searches on the Internet and have only found a few places that have them in stock and those places are asking way to much money (IMHO) (yes, I know, supply and demand). The prices and availability on the P7M6/P7M13 mags are even worse, its just about the same as the Glock pre-ban mags were during the AWB (I know, I hate to bring up bad memories;)). Now, what would be great is if Mec-Gar (who makes OEM mags for Beretta, CZ, Sig and many others) could get permission/sign a contract from/with H&K to produce P7 mags (maybe start out producing only PSP and M6 mags at first), that would help lower the prices back down and every P7 owner could then afford to own 4-8 mags for their pistol (like most do for their other pistols). I have a feeling this is most likely not going to happen, as either Mec-Gar and other third party mag producers have already approached H&K about the getting the rights to manufacture P7 mags and were told no by H&K, or if they haven't yet, H&K will tell them no.

FWIW, I was quoted $65.00 for a new P-7PSP mag from a shop in Franklin, TN. Saturday morning. They are out there, just "tropo caro". I have yet to search at Brownell's or Numrich.

I got a pair of PSP mags from Bachman Pawn and Gun for $80. They are at most larger gun shows around here and they will do mail/phone orders.

As far as I know they don't do web orders, but you can call them at: 214 351-0527 and order by phone if they still have them.

Good luck!

I think the P7 and/or PSP are unique and belong in any collection, trust me, if you have any interest at all in getting one, you'll regret not getting one in a couple of years when the current supplies have dried up!

FWIW:

I've never felt the need for a pile of extra magazines for my pistols. Generally I feel comfortable with one and a spare..

When I bought my three P7's recently from CDNN they still had extra used (demo only) P7 mags for $39.99 so I picked up six extra and have 9 in total, or three for each P7. I think that is plenty, and don't intend to buy more.

Also, my salesman at CDNN (Neal Ray) said the availability of used P7 mags changes from day to day, so you might keep checking back and you might luck up on calling a day when the mags are in.. Apparently they sell out pretty quickly.

I wouldn't let scarcity of extra mags keep me from buying one of these Lower Saxony P7's, I'd get the pistol while the getting is good, and worry about backup mags later.

IMO the P7 is unique and a classic... Getcha' one and you'll see what I mean.

Just a thought.

Best Wishes,

Jesse
