This is quite the enjoyable hobby and I have come a long way since my first holster. I still have to burnish this one but im pretty happy with it.

I didn’t exactly do a step by step photo gallery but I did better than I normally do.

Also… as much as I despise the awl it is a very useful tool… until the needle breaks 3 stitches from being done. At least I was close enough to pull extra thread and trim so that I didn’t have to start completely over.

It is extremely tight but leather stretches, so I’m going with that being a good thing for a brand new piece. man’s that old sock design… well that’s just what the stitching needed to look like so why not embellish it a bit.

That shouldn't slide around.

I have laid my leather aside for awhile. I have always intended to buy a high quality swivel knife but never got around to doing so. Last week I decided to just make my own and dug through things and came up with enough stuff to build one. It works so well I decided to build two more but had nothing left to build the barrels from so am waiting on a piece of 1/2" rod to arrive. I have the other components covered. Then I have a western belt to make for a great grand girl's birthday and then it's back to holsters. I'm just trying to decide which gun I want it to to be for.

Just for grins I grabbed the other 3 holsters and their respective irons and took a family photo so to speak. Next up on my build sheet is a 1911 holster for my RIA 10mm. I plan to hunt this year so I should go afield with something better than the walmart BB gun nylon trash I generally use when I don’t want to mess up a pretty holster. 77714820-CE69-404D-A777-1897D10B9C56.jpeg
Left to right. Colt new line 22, S&W new departure 38 safety hammerless 3rd revision, Taurus pt99af, Ruger EC9s. I can’t really make much of a claim on the Taurus holster, it and the S&W holster were Tandy kits from hobby lobby. The S&W had a lot of trimming and slimming to make it fit. The Taurus was just as simple as running the hole punch and lacing it up. I’m pretty proud of the pocket holster though considering where I have come from and have got there in a hurry.
