Anybody have a good hunting load for a Ruger 44 mag Carbine.

Needs to be hot enough to cycle the semi action.

I'm new to reloading and will be doing one at a time for quality over quanity:)

See your .38 thread. :)

I shoot 19.9 Grs AA#9 and Magtech 240 Gr. soft points as well as 20.5 Grs W296 and the Speer 270 Gr. Gold Dot. These are both right at max. Do not start with these loads. Start low and work up.( reduce 10% or more to start)

Get a manual. It will prove invaluable. :)

And welcome again to THR.

.44 Load

I have an old model Ruger carbine. Done quite a bit of testing to find the most accurate load and came up with this one:
200 Gr XTP
28 Gr. WW 296
CCI Mag large pistol primer.

This shoots better than anything else I came up with, cycles every time. I tested different 240 gr. as well as 200 gr. slugs.

Good luck!
