How close are the tolerances on modern semi-auto handguns?

Hi everyone,
The reason I ask this question, is that I have just purchased a new Springfield XDm in 9mm, and want to know if 100 people have purchased this same gun--would it follow that the tolerances are close enough that if all these folks used X-brand ammunition---would X-brand ammunition work good in MY new XDm???
Or is that making an assumption that is not warranted?

(I am just trying to shorten the time to find the best ammo for my gun, and if all XDm's work good with brand A, I will start with brand A, without going to brand B, C, and D. I hate wasting time and money.) I hope this makes sense.

modern semi autos for the most part should work well with all decent quality ammunition, that is the big advantage that modern autos have over many of the older auto designs. As far as accuracy preferences, I think that's a gun to gun difference, but an XDm should shoot acceptably well with any ammo.

i'd think a xdm ought to feed and fire any ammo you can throw at it without any issues at all.
