Hey i just got a SIG 229. I love it and it shoots great. I want to know how you all find it most comfortable to carry it. I find that an IWB in the small of my back works best, although the butt does stick out sometimes.
I carry mine in a Fobus Roto Holster. It allows various positioning and versatility. Mostly I switch the angles to accommodate "small of Back" and standard hip carrying.
Haven't really tested it yet since my P229R (357 SIG) is my cold weather gun, but I got a DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard.
Thought I might like to try the 3-slots for strong side carry and use the second slot for support side carry when in the car-seatbelts play havoc with strong side carry.
EDIT: You do know the downside of small of back carry don't you?
I see a number of folks advise against it, as there's a good chance you may end up on your back if attacked, and you may land on your gun. I've heard a few tales by cops that had it happen-they said the blow of the gun in their back hurt worse than the initial attack by the BG!
Just something to think about?
I'm a little guy so my Sig is just too big for me to conceal on my person without layering. When I do ccw I slide it into the side pocket of my commuter bag that I always carry with me.
They will custom make whatever gun you choose to carry, in this case, the sig. Takes a couple weeks to break in, and then it's absolutely sweet.. and classy.
It's a solid and reliable gun for police style open carry......but way too heavy and bulky for concealed carry in 2010. I'm tempted to dump it, 'cause it never gets used anymore.
