Coop,
I have the 627 with the 2.625" barrel. I carry it every day in a Lobo Gun Leather Enhanced Pancake with one of his B8 belts. As I type this it is on my right hip. It tucks right against my body and does not print. http://www.lobogunleather.com/
I have zero complaints. I train with the gun at 15 yards and all shots are A zone with .357 loads. Recoil is very mangeable, but at 37.6 ounces it should be.
I think you will be pleased.

Carries nicely. Very light and compact. Great for pocket carry. That's what I bought mine for. Was originally looking at a Ruger LCR but I found it 'bulkier' in a side by side comparison. My 637's trigger was stiffer than the LCR when comparing the two out of the box but it smoothed out nicely with snap caps and shooting. I'll never understand why people get a trigger job on brand new handguns when snap caps are cheaper. Have to at least find out if the thing will smooth out before throwing money into it!
Right now I'm working on finding the perfect grip set-up(for me). The boot grips are OK, but I'd like to get a little bit of my pinky finger on it. I have factory magnas and a Pachmayr adapter arriving in the mail soon. Hopefully, that'll be the cure.
The revolver shoots well. I'm not as good with it as my Speed Six but I haven't had it that long. Still playing with types of ammo. Very snappy with +Ps. And I'm not a recoil shy person. The next grips should make a difference. There's my take on the 637 for good or bad. Overall, I like mine very much.
I carried a 637 many a year. My only gripe was the factory rubber grips, so I put standard Jframe round butts on it. I liked it alot better after that, I could control it better.
Then, being a pocket carrier and belt line carrier, I went to the 638 with a shrouded hammer. No regrets. Same story, ... rubber grips said bye-bye and put O.E. round butts on it. Love it now.
I like mine, and it's perfect for holster carry inside or outside the waistband.
But if you're thinking of pocket-carry then I would definitely recommend a concealed-hammer or shrouded-hammer model instead.
