It's a 30oz handgun with small accessories in a case (loader, holster, magazines). I researched online and it told me i have to ship either with UPS or FedEx overnight to FFL holder since I'm not a licensee. The online rates from these websites are about $30 upward to ship a 3lb package to the East coast states. So I look up auction sites and most sellers charge $15-$20 shipping only. Are they giving shipping discount or is it because they are FFL holders so they can ship it cheaper?
If UPS or FEDEX will ship coast-to-coast overnight for $30, go for it. The last four-five times I have used them, even Dallas-Memphis was $52 for a Scandium S&W (about one pound ready to go).
I use my FFL because they charge me $15 for the logging in, plus actual shipping by USPS (yes, an FFL can use USPS Priority Mail to ship a handgun) plus insurance. My last shipped from here in TX to MN, with $500 insurance, ran me about $28. Would have been $60 or so with UPS or FEDEX...
i have shipped 2 guns in the last two months. each one has ran just over $50. the reason some places can ship cheaper is ffl to ffl they don't have to use overnight. my $.02
