How good a year are you having?

I'll tell you within a month or so, when I find out for sure if I will still have a job, without moving.

Huge changes in the wind at work. Massive layoffs coming any day now, according to some well-founded rumors.

If my job goes away here, the company would offer to move me to Dallas or Phoenix, but (no offense to all you Texans or Arizonans) I just don't think we could handle either city. My wife and I both grew up in the rural northwest. I don't mind the south so much, but I absolutely couldn't stand to live in a big city. At the same time, I sure don't like the idea of job hunting after this many years in one place.:banghead:

I have my order form sitting here to order another M1 from the CMP, and money in the bank earmarked for a service grade Garand. As soon as I hear my job is safe, off it goes. I did buy a cheap cap and ball revolver recently, my first foray into the world of black powder. It's a lot of fun!

I'm having an okay year; too much money and way too little time for hobbies. Things are sort of crazy and disorganized at work, but I am NOT QUITE ready to retire after 34 years. I tell myself that every single day when somebody comes up with another harebrained idea. I got a new manager 2 years ago and she is trying to reinvent the wheel.

I think getting my parents moved into 'THE HOME' and their house cleaned out and sold last year wore me out. Now that my mother is slowly sliding through the final stages of Alzheimer's, and is barely conscious a few minutes a day, I'm trying to spend even more time with my father.

The most relaxing part of my week seems to be the 250-mile roundtrip every week to take my father to lunch. It's a nice drive and I picked the retirement center, so I'm not complaining about the location.

Like I said, I'm having an okay year.

its Half-way Through The 7th Month!!

We Are Gonna Have A Way Worse Next Year!!!!!

Obama Can't Save Us All!!!

Believe That.

My year is rocking:cool:

The business I run with my Son is up 100% in sales over same time last year.

I am pounding the mortgage with extra payments

No debt other than the mortgage

Two new lever guns so far this year

Great hiking trip to the Applachian Trail in early July, and a wonderful family reunion in VA.

Going to Germany and Greece next month for two weeks.

My wife got a nice raise at her job

The list goes on and on and on. 2008 is a wonderful year.

I'm doing OK, (did not get laid off at work when some did) but things are getting real tight at work again. No relief in sight.

My gun purchases will be going down a bit. The last gun I bought I had to sell one to get it. Likely to sell one or two more that don't get shot if I want anything else. No complaints though.

Me?

The year's been pretty good. Bought two new XD45 Tacticals, a few spare mags for each, an XD9 Service (again a few spare mags for it), a Marlin 336 from a co-worker, and reloading supplies for the new acquisitions.

I've also started a work-out regimen so that I can traipse around the deer woods without fatigue. Started out jogging a 1/2 mile a day, and have progressed to 2 miles. My goal is to build up to three miles by the end of the summer, then start training for the occasional 5K runs in the area.

On a much better note, my 14 year old daughter is now living with me. Her and her mother haven't been getting along too terribly well. Hopefully, I can get my daughter and ex-wife to play nice with each other. Would be wonderful if everyone could get along.

All in all, despite higher prices on everything, and all the garbage going on in the Middle East, it's been a good year.

Let's see.......

I buy trade and sell so much that I can't keep track without going back to records.......but I'll have a go at it.

Off the top of my head, since January:

I picked up an LCP, an SP101, 2 GP100's, a Remington 11-87 and built an AR (RRA upper, Tactical Innovations lower with Armalite internals).

I sold two NAA Guardians, a Ruger P97, and an 870. I'd say I'm ahead.

Gas prices are a drag, but my wife and I do OK. We manage to put away about 12% of our annual earnings into retirement plans.

Trying to up that next year, I'd like to get to 20%.

We're both in our early 30's and have been doing this since our mid 20's.

We just re-did the floors in our house and are planning to re-fi soon to a 15 year fixed loan.

I've managed to keep my weight at 230lbs. A few years ago I hit 250 and decided that was too much. Dropped it and pretty much kept it off. I bounce between 225 and 230 most days.

I've also managed to recover quite well from a broken back last fall. Fell from my treestand and broke L-1. Now have rods fusing L-2 to T-11. Most days are pain free. The ones that aren't just require an ibuprofen or two. Overall can't complain considering how things could have gone.

Not very good at all. Despite a few upsides, such as the Heller ruling and finally owning a rifle, this year has pretty much sucked for me. I'm sick with something that I can't identify, and I've only been out to shoot my new investment twice this year.

Goal:

Lose weight: Yeah...whatever.

LMFAO.

True as rain. lol.

:)

* And sorry to be so pessimistic in my last posts..... I just hope the last part of this year is better for all of US!!
