How many AR-15's are there at a gun show?

I bought a receiver before things got stupid. I paid 140 out the door, I went to my dealers shop the other day and the exact same "gun" was 425, I didn't bother even asking if that was the OTD price. I was able to find a deal on some M855 that he was unboxing as I walked in and bought enough to get a nice discount. He wasn't even expecting to get anything in for a while.

The one at Reliant this past weekend had plenty. They were all about double the pre-Newtown shooting price. Magazines were the same - about double and sometimes triple.

As others have stated, if you can wait, do it.

I agree with UnderTheGun, few hundred at the Reliant show this past weekend, with dozens walking around on the backs of individuals trying to sell them. Was there both days and did not see the volume of panic driven sales like previous weekend shows in Conroe, Pasadena and Stafford.

The "High Caliber" gun show with be in Houston this weekend at the GRB, I suspect that you will have plenty of choices there, abet at a higher than normal price, but available for purchase.

If yall where me and didnt have an AR would you buy one at these prices incase they get banned again? Thats my and everyone elses big fear. If they are getting banned these prices are understandable. Do you think theres no way they will get banned? Some of yall say wait till the prices go down, how long will that be?

It's looking very unlikely right now. I think that in six months, after the panic has died, the legislative push is settled, and supplies have caught up with demand, the market will be flooded with new guns as well as used ones people bought out of panic. If I were looking to buy an AR, I would eat some ramen now, and scrape together $1000 for July.

Unless you like massively overpaying for things, I'd say wait. The panic will subside when people regain their senses and realize no ban will pass.

There are no guarantees we will see lower prices in six months to a year. In this political climate, that is a long time. If any restrictions are passed (likely in my view) there will be no sunset clause.

Colt LE6940

A Colt LE6940 was going for $2600-$3000 on the average on Gunbroker a couple weeks ago.

A gun show here had the same AR Colts NIB for $3500. I don't know if any were sold, but that was the price Jan. 5, 2013.

You will get ripped off if you want an AR. And besides you will have a hard time finding 5.56 ammo . Be ready to pay $1 for brasscased . Maybe $ .75 a round for steelcased ammo .

The one thats selling are Mosin Nagant rifles. The cheap rifles are being bought in a heart beat as ammo is still within normal range.

I don't currently have an AR, I do have the savings to buy one at todays prices without completely breaking the bank. An AR is definitely on my wishlist, but I'm not buying at these panic prices. They won't be banned moderate Democrats are backing off and few if any republicans want to ban them. Keep in mind a ban would have to make it through both houses of congress (probably with a super majority in the senate).

If I had an AR I would be selling, I've seen the Colt M4 clone go for as much as 4k on online auctions when it was 1100 at walmart before the scare.

I felt the same way back in early 2009. I paid too much for a rifle and really regretted it a few months later. If I was in the market for a 6920, the most I would pay is $1200.
I know how you feel, and it sucks.

Looks like Im not gonna get one. I couldnt possibly spend more than $1600 on one since thats already a 50% mark up.

That is right . If you have an AR to sell, this is the time. It s not the right time to buy, you will be ripped off and good luck finding ammo . It will also be a killing at $.75 -1 a round. Rather get you another .22 pistol or rifle to plink around and wait till prices go down . Dont get into the frenzy, you will lose a lot of money .

At the last KC GS I went to there were quite a few vendors that had a small supply of them anywhere from 1600 to 2300 for a basic ar, Glad I took the plunge a couple years back.

I would not buy any assault rifle at these stupid prices they are at at the moment.

They will not get banned, magazines will not get banned. Last time I checked the votes were not there to pass such a bill. Do as you see fit though and be prepared to pay the price of admission. Like everyone said it's a time to sell, not a time to buy. My guess is there will be a decent amount of AR's as companies are churning them out as fast as they can to make the most dough.

That comes closest to my answer but I'd say squirrel away $3,000 to buy a pair and a few cases of ammo and 2 dozen magazines. At the LGS Monday one of the regulars had sold his used AR for $3,600 the previous week and there were 6 on consignment at prices I didn't bother to check.

I was tempted to sell mine, accessories, ammo and all for a hefty price (without too much gouging) but just can't risk being sued by someone claiming my reloads were bad. I've got components to load another 1k this week, all bought at prehysteria prices and I could probably get a pretty penny selling 2 or 3k of it right now but I'm not that guy.

Going to a gun show Saturday and getting 7 30 round magazines for the AR and 7 15 round clips for a glock 19 at the very least. If prices where still normal I would get the AR-15 and a glock 19 for concealed carry.

Okay, let's look at current prices that you will see at a gun show *if* you even find the following items.

Colt 6920 - ~$2,800
Glock 19 - ~$650
7 AR-15 magazines - ~$50/each = ~$350 total
7 Glock 19 magazines - ~$40/each = ~$280 total

That is a grand total of about $4,100.

Would I pay that for what you are asking? Heck no. (But then again, I currently have one and have another on the way for at-parts cost)

Do I think that a permanent ban will be enacted? Again, no.

How long will it take for prices to come back 'down'? I would guess at least 6 months, probably longer.

How long will it take for ARs to stay in stock again? Much longer than a year.

And as a side-note. AR-15s use magazines. Glocks also use magazines as well. M1 Garands use 'clips'.

^I was hoping to get...

Colt LE6920 for $1600
Glock 19 for $600, willing to pay $650
7 30 round magazines for $30 a piece.
and some JHP

I want to get the magazines incase they sneak in that ban but dont know if I would let myself buy them for more than $30.

I bought a M&P 15 about a week before sandy hook for $900. I just sold it for $1800. Then turned around and bought a colt 6920 magpul version for $1500. I know thats high for the colt but the way i see it I really only have $600 dollars in it.

Umad, what state do you live in? I only ask because it is much more common for states to implement magazine restrictions than the federal government. If you are in a fairly conservative state, I wouldn't worry about it much.
