My tin foil may be showing a little here, but if our government were to at some point succomb to madness and pass laws to confiscate weapons, wouldnt sites like this just be very convenient lists for doors to kick in, etc.?
I guess my haircut today didn't get to my tin foil either. Heck with some of these threads they can make handy little checklists. "Ooops, we forgot the FAL, it's around here somewhere"
Probably never happen but why tempt fate. When growing up I was never to tell the other kids we had guns, let alone give them an inventory.
But thankfully I turned in mine at the last confisca...I mean buyback and got me a new pair of Reeboks and a $50 sizzler gift certificate!

You have probably realized by now these threads don't go over well on the gun boards. Quite frankly this is like asking about my 401k, how many cows I own or some such. None ya. Heck I have done an off the top of my head list and missed by 5.

I know I did not have to reply to this post or click on this thread. But I feel about these like I do about people that have their "arsenal" in their siglines. It is silly and quite possibly dangerous.

Regards,

James

I can never understand why those that do not want to list their firearms feel uncontrollably compelled to post on a "List Your Firearms" thread.

If you have that little self control maybe you should rethink your accessibility to firearms

I have 57,or so.
Like IamKris, I blame it on the C&R license

u guys are freken nuts -- some people have over 50+ --- Lmfao?? Packing up for WW3?? ..... Cuz dang - - 50+ --- ..... even 19+...

What's the point of having over 4 guns???

Just goes to show how crazy U.S is....

Where are you from, waterloo? France?

What is the point in having more than four guns? I like guns. Sure I don't NEED probably more than 4 guns, but collecting guns and learning to be proficient with them is a dear hobby of mine and possibly the material love of my life. Crazy? maybe. Atleast my hobby is not questioning other people's hobbies.

Gee Waterloo, I HOPE that is sarcasim. Or a joke.

(taking off tinfoil beanie for a moment to scratch head while I count) Yep, just as I thought. Ran out of fingers and toes before I ran out of guns!;)

(puting beanie back on) Guns, gee I'm too scared of them since I fell, hit my head and became a liberal Democrat. I traded them all in. Like my new shoes?

:neener:

joab,

I thought I made a valid explanation, if not sorry. Waterloo, I am starting to regret the little help I gave you. Get educated and you will realize the error of your ways.

James

What's the point of having over 4 guns???
Lemme see if I can 'splain it.

Let's talk shotguns, first. A good upland game shotgun is different from a good duck gun. And a dove gun may be different, too. And once you get there, maybe a nice, light 20ga SXS would be a good thing. And now that I'm reloading, a 28ga. becomes affordable to shoot...

Handguns...well, you need a .22 plinker. And a concealed carry pistol. Which is not as much fun to shoot as a full-size handgun. And a single-action .45 Colt would be nice...and then you find you'd really rather have a different concealed carry gun. And how can you NOT have a 1911?

Rifles--sheesh. Once again, you have the mandatory .22 plinker. And then a centerfire deer rifle. And if there's varmit hunting to be done...well, no serious varmiter can get by on just one. And then maybe you want to try a .204 Ruger. And if you get bit by the milsurp bug, then Lord have mercy on your soul. You'll start with something cheap, like a Noisy Magnet. Then you'll need a Turk Mauser, or maybe an Enfield. And how can you pass up a K-31? What a brilliant piece of engineering. And then a CMP Garand...

We haven't even talked about leverguns, or Cowboy Action Shooting, or IPSC, or Sporting Clays, or black powder.

Are you getting the picture?

And I know I'm missing some entire categories. Help me out here, folks...

Let me put this in paraphrased Descarteian for you
I can therefore I do

I know my post came directly after yours, but I was not directly addressing you

Waterloo,

Sorry, I didn't realise you were from Canada. I thought you might be an anti slipping in to cause problems. Then I saw your thread. Since you may be legitand tring to fight off the brainwashing of living in a country settled by the fRENCH:uhoh: and Torries fleeing freedom in exchange for suposed security:uhoh: I will try to explain it to you.

Firearms are primarily used as protection and hunting. They are also purchased for historical reasons, and can be a good investment. Unless you buy junk, most retain their value well, and many appreciate.

Firearms come in so many shapes, sizes and brands that it is imposible to own everything, no matter how much some of us try. Firearms are a hobby and colectable, and like every colection and hobby, you often find yourself looking for the next peice to fit into your collection.

If I owned firearms anymore (remember, I hit my head a while back...) I would say that I am most interested in military arms and precision shooting. So I would have owned, say;
1.) a springfeild armory national match M1a (historical, clone of M-14, acccurate)
2.) a Lee-Enfeild (historical, WWII British made)
3.) a M1 carbine (historical, WWII Korea and Veitnam)
4.) a 1911 .45acp (historical, clone of Colt Goverment, WWI &II, to present day military)

Now this would not take into consideration any other firearms I may have owned, nor other intrests of mine, but should be enough for a begining enthusiast to get an idea of the vast and and almost endless sea of firearms ownership, use and colectability.

Best of luck to you on geting your pistol and understanding of Canadian gun laws. Hope you can move to the states soon and learn what real freedom is, and the responsibilites that go along with being free.

P.S. If you really are an anti and wasting my time, well....this is a polite forum.

4 now:

two handguns (one pistol, one airweight revolver for carry).
one rifle (.22LR).
one shotgun (see user name).

working on a mid-sized caliber bolt gun.

that will be enough.
actually more than enough.

if i had to walk, i'd take the K9 & the 870P.

all the rest is icing.

I'm with Joab:

If you are so paranoid about it- just DON'T POST!! Seems simple to me.

Waterloo - Some people have the freedom and the means to collect and invest in firearms. They don't have to justify to anyone a purpose as to why they own a collection. "America been very, very good to me"

I never cease to be amazed at the number of people that will put their info on the street at the casual request of a total stranger. I bet if someone asked for Social Security numbers or debit card passwords, some people would respond with that too.

When someone ask me how many guns I have, I reply that guns are like tools. How many different size sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers do you have......

I guess my reply to waterloo is similar to Dave's. Most of my firearms were purchased to allow me to participate in specific hunting or competition situations. I do have a few that I only have because "everyone else got one" or "because I can", but most have or had specific purposes. As to numbers, I'm at that awkward stage -- I have more than most non-shooters can fathom having, and far fewer than many of my very active shooting friends. ("You mean you don't have at least 6 ARs set up for different situations?" :D ) I haven't ever gotten into true collecting, as I don't have the money for it, and wouldn't want to spend that money on a gun that I wanted to put up forever and not shoot. I have no "showpieces," everything "works for a living" here.

Dave R: Highpower rifle, bullseye pistol, international pistol, rifle silhouette, pistol silhouette (NRA & IHMSA!), 3-gun set-ups, benchrest (RF/CF), 1000 yard, extreme long range target, slug gun... yes, the categories do go on and on, don't they. Hmm, that reminds me, I don't have a few of those categories covered. Oh well, time to go shopping again! :D
