How much ammo do you usually carry with your CCW?

18 rounds in the gun, 18 in the spare mag under the gerber in a double magazine pouch.

The car has an M1 Carbine with 1 15 round magazine with soft nose bullets and x2 30 round magazines near at hand. There's another 4 30 round magazines in the trunk. So, 195 rounds in my car. If I run out I'm screwed.

Seems to me that most of you cannot trust your guns enough to know enough about firepower, knockdown power, aimpoint of own firearm. What you need to do is take a certified shooting course and practice, practice, practice. Most people don't have the necessary confidence with their firearm of choice

nah its just that some people prepare for a possibility of a gunfight, rather than simple shoot once and call the cops.

besides, its not caliber, its shot placement

i carry 1 mag in the gun 6906, 12+1 and a spare 15 rnd mag. on journeys to large cities i add a shotgun to the vehicle and a bag with filled extra mags and shotgun shells.

Gosh, I reckon I'm loaded for bear... or bare?

At home in the People's Republic of IL, I carry (legally) a P-9 Keltec in a fanny pack with two 12-rd mags (gun unloaded <a-hem> a-la Barney Fife... heh, six seconds to safety beats empty-handed!). Along with a Brinkmann Maxfire 6V Lithium flashlight.

Where my permits are valid outside of IL, I'll usually carry a Beretta 92 or a Glock 17 in a Kytac IWB (Braveheart) along with a P3AT (6+1) in the left rear pocket in some sort of holster I got from Dillon. I'll usually have at least two 15- or 17-rd mags. If I'm wondering a ways from the car or I'm nervous or concerned in the least, I'll sport 20-rd reloads for the Beretta or 32-rd sticks for the Glock. Along with a Sure-fire L-2.

Got the Mossie 590 in the trunk with more shells than I'd care to shoot in any given day - mostly in reduced recoil loads for my recoil :what: sensitive girlish figure.

I guess I was overkill when I would carry a full sized 1911, two spare mags, and a Keltec PM9 as backup. I'd need a full blown LA bank robbery situation to warrant all that gear. I am down to a full sized 1911. I made it in my first full summer with it this year so I am content with the choice. I have the highest degree of confidence in this gun, so its the one I carry and shoot.

Only problem is I need a way to carry while in full wadders fishing. Really need a .38 airweight or something for that.

Usually what's in the gun and one reload around town. Road trip I'll take along a long gun and several reloads for it.

Always wanted to do the "Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing" luggage style reloads just one time. But that gets heavy.

About the time my kids were born, the Michiganders were using 'gerber' to mean 'baby' (Gerber being a brand of baby food, in case someone might not know). I also own a nice fixed-blade Gerber knife.

In this context, what is a gerber? Stashing the mags under your baby might be good camouflage...

I carry 2 hi-cap-mags 15 rounds each, for my Armscor .45. 15 + 1 on my gun, I have a BUG also a .45 commander.

I carry 14 rounds in the G21 when on my property, and also carry an extra 13-round magazine when I am elsewhere.

I don't expect to engage in a prolonged firefight. My chief reason for the extra magazine is to handle malfunctions related to the first magazine. I am thinking about replacing the spare magazine with G27 containing 12 rounds, once I settle on how to carry it.

5 and I'm probably carrying 3 too many.

Yep, I too carry 5 for the most part. Sometimes I'll add another 5 on a speadloader, and othertimes (though rare), I'll strap on a 15+1 G19 or G20.

any revolver:

full cylinder plus either a speedloader or a speed strip...or one of each :)

1911 single stack: one full pistol plus (at least) one spare full mag

any double stack: one full pistol plus one spare full mag

I'm answering this more to remind myself than for any other reason. In alphabetical order:

Beretta 92 FSC - 1 spare mag - 25 rounds total
Browning HP 40 - 1 spare mag (need another) - 19 rounds total
CZ75 - 1 spare mag - 29 rounds total
Glock 23 2 spare mags - 28 rounds total
Kahr K40 - 3 spare mags - 21 rounds total
Kimber Classic - 2 spare mags - 22 rounds total
Ruger GP100 - 3 spare speedloaders - 24 rounds total
Ruger SP101 - 3 spare speedloaders - 20 rounds total -
Ruger P345 - 2 spare mags - 22 rounds total
Walther P99 40 - 2 spare mags - 28 rounds total

I just upped my,"load out" for the Glock 23

I started carrying an extra ten rounds for her...I now carry a total of 36 rounds of .40 S&W and decided to leave the Taurus PT-145 at home, or in the car. After all, Glocks don't jam:uhoh: .

PS-Take that HadEmAll, I gotcha beat:neener: lol...

"Take that HadEmAll, I gotcha beat lol..."

That Glock 23 is a sweet carry, and 36 rounds sure sounds like a comfort factor for sure. I'm still (looks around embarrassed) using the 10 round mags with 9 in each.

Yeah the Glock 23 rocks, Only draw back is....

I get the,"heebie jeebies", about carrying it in any style other than OWB, in a Fobus paddle holster. I am scared of a AD while reholsering, especially when I have to do it sitting in my car, for victim disarmament areas with the posted valid 30.06 signs:uhoh: ...

I have a Uncle Mikes side kick holster that normally holds my Taurus PT-145, but I am finally starting to get comfortable enough with the idea of carrying the '23 IWB that I may give it a try tommorow. I will however bring the paddle holster along for the,"heebie jeebies". I expect no incidents, but wish me luck anyway, as I will definitely be outside my comfort zone for a while again...:uhoh:
