Any dealer in Texas who is charging sales tax on the transfer fee is scamming you...........the Texas Comptrollers Office specifically exempts firearm transfers from sales tax.possom813 20 + tax at the local pawn shop
Not all states contact FBI NICS for background checks, those states that use a state agency/state police/etc as "point of contact" for background checks often charge a fee for that service. Dealers in some states are charged for every call regardless of the outcome.KennethI can understand an FFL holder charging a modest fee for recieving, entering in his/her book, and otherwise taking responsibility for someone else's firearm. However, charging a fee for the NICS check seems a little d-bagish.Quote:
