How much does .38 and 9mm ammo weigh?

I've been carrying a gun as often as possible for several years now.
With me, every ounce makes a big difference in daily carry, but I want to carry as much gun as I possibly can.

Has anybody weighed .38 and 9mm ammo?
If we know what one round weighs, (124 gr. is a good start) then we'll know how much 5 or 7 rounds will add to the weight of the gun.

Kinda depends on the bullet weight you are using.

In general... 9mm bullets range from 115 grains --> 147 grains. .38 special is usually 110 grains --> 158 grains.

The case/primer/powder probably also has some variation, but it would be quite small.

Actually, what I was looking for was something like "124gr. 9mm weighs about .3 oz.".

Well, if nobody has the data, maybe I can check some rounds on the postal scale in the mail room.

Winchester 130gr FMJ .38 weighs 200gr total = 0.457142857 ounce

Winchester Ranger 147gr weighs 213gr total = 0.486857143 ounce

Those were the two closest to my scales.

Wikepedia's definition:

A grain is a unit of mass, equal to 0.06479891 gram, in the avoirdupois, Apothecaries' and troy weight systems. An avoirdupois pound (i.e., the pound commonly abbreviated as lb in American usage) is 7000 grains, whereas a troy pound is 5760 grains.

Grains are still used as a measure for older drugs such as aspirin, though the milligram has almost completely replaced it. Grains are currently used in the USA to measure the mass of bullets and gunpowder, and scales for handloading measure in grains; bullets are generally measured in increments of 1 grain, gunpowder in increments of 0.1 grains.

Originally, a grain was the weight of a grain seed from the middle of an ear of barley.

There, that info and $2.50 will get me about 7000 grains (AV) of coffee. But, that reference to barley has me thinking about a stout.

I have weighed some cartridges with representative bullets just for fun:
9mm, 115 gr. bullet: .4160 oz. ea.
.357 mag, 158 gr. bullet: .5486 oz. ea.
