Used to wander my my grampa's 125 acre farm w/his old Winchester pump .410 or .357 Blackhawk since I was 10 or so. Grew up hunting & fishing with my uncles & nobody looked askance at a 10 y/o kid wandering around the wood by hisself, with a shotgun. Brought home a boatload of squirrels (fried, w/dumplings- YUM) that way.
At 10-years old I got a Daisey pump BB gun (no idea what ever happened to it) then at 12-years old I got a brand new Winchester Model 250 lever action .22 which I still have and care for to this day.
On my 18th birthday I was waiting outside my local shop for it to open. I had been saving money for about 3 months and eyeing a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle in their used rack. I'd go in about twice a week and try to hide it behind the other used guns so no one else would see it. I still have that Mini-14 too.
