wandering if anyone tested this before? any way possible to load some 45's quite as a cb short from a .22?
how quiet can you load 45ACP in a 5" 1911 ?

i have several types of cast bullets to use
200g RN

No. It's gonna take more bang than that to push the bullet out the end of the barrel. Greater mass, greater friction, etc. Quietest you'll get is with a very fast burning powder and a reduced charge under the lightest cast bullet you can find. But on the way to developing the quietest possible load, you would end up sticking at least one bullet in the barrel (otherwise you don't know you've reached the minimum); and the charge you end up with in such a (hopefully imaginary) project is not going to cycle the gun.

not necessary to cycle the gun, anyone try shooting round ball in a 45 auto?(not FMJ, actually a cast ROUND ball of lead, to avoid confusion)

Yes. I was not trying for a low noise load, but it is possible to load .45 ACP with a round ball. Use one a bit oversize, seat to the "equator" and crimp well so it will stand the trip up the feed ramp. Might want a lube wad under it or a dip lube applied to the ball if you want to shoot many of them.

not really, we have two stray male cats that have hung around the house for the last month or so and they fight just about every night between midnight to 4 in the morning and make some freeky crazyass sounds to wake up to in the middle of the night lol, they have started picking fights with our cats, we cant catch them and they have to go. i live way back in the hills so no neighbor issues, but i dont feel like waking everyone in my house to dispatch a couple of cats and im out of CB shorts

Aguila super-colibri in my Rossi .22 is quieter than any of my airguns, with a lot more energy. I do see CB longs in town, so they may be available to you. If not, maybe an online order.
Or, you could try a .45 birdshot load. It probably won't kill the cats, and they may figure out that your fence isn't the most comfortable spot in town.
When I lived in Bama, I caught a cat using my little garden plot as a litterbox. I didn't see a tag on the cat, but I didn't feel like killing it, so I tested my pepper spray on it instead. Worked pretty well, I'd say. Never saw that cat again.

I found some loads in Speer #11 for .430 round balls in 44 MAG/Spl and got to shoot them last week. They were pretty quiet, like a cork poping on Champagne bottle compared to the other 44 rounds I was shooting. You might give them a try.

Best cat repelant I've used is a supersoaker with a dash of lemon.
Cats hate being squirted and they don't like citrus.
I don't think lethal force is required. Just catch them unaware a couple of times and they will move on.
For dogs crapping on my lawn - a slingshot and a marble works great!

I shot some very quiet loads out of a 1911 last weekend...
I found some very old and slightly corroded primers out in the barn that I wanted to use up for plinking ammo. Loaded some with 250 gr cast LSWC and Unique, and had quite a few duds. The worst duds just barely popped, and the end of the barrel flamed with unburned powder like a butane lighter after the shot. To my surprise, every single bullet exited the barrel, and most of them hit the resetting target as well.
I later switched to Red Dot and they shot normally. There was nothing wrong with the Unique that I had, either.
I am only mentioning this because I think you can shoot some very light loads without sticking bullets if you are using a well-lubed and properly sized lead bullet. I would still check the bore after every shot if I was shooting light loads. The last thing anybody wants is a bore obstruction.

Speer No 10 shows a 141 grain .454" round ball and 3 grains of Bullseye for 592 fps.
That is actually in .45 Auto Rim, I guess they did not think it would feed or function an auto, but the ballistics will be the same.
